Stitching in the New Year

I hope your holidays were blessed with the joys of family and friends, good food and celebrations, and stitching, of course! With holiday preparations now in the past, I have pulled out my ABC Sampler with the intentions of a New Year Finish. What was getting old to stitch is now new with possibilities.

I have had the most fun choosing my favorite alphabet motifs and finding clever ways to insert a representative for each letter. Some items are stitched over one, such as the crabs and fish in this photo, to add a fun element to finding each alphabet.

You may be surprised to learn there isn't any template I am following to place various elements other than to count the number of threads between the outside edges of two areas stitched, divide in half, and stitch my  design beginning with it's center. Too much space left above a motif provides an opportunity to stitch over one.  When this piece is completed, I plan to begin one using PS Halloween motifs. Perhaps you will want to join me! See you soon, Elizabeth

This is so clever and personal! I have the whole huge Alphabet chart set, and this may inspire me to look at it through new eyes.

What a neat stitchery pattern! I want to do an applique quilt in this style!
